Acacallis cyanea, Fragrant Orchid From Amazon

The handsome orchid with fragrant flowers, but very hard to maintain in cultivation. Acacallis cyanea that synonym of Aganisia cyanea is usually known as the Dark Blue Acacalis. Found in Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia, and usually grows epiphytically on trees throughout the upper Amazon Basin. Some of them have been reported grow semi-submerged by flooding rivers in the Amazon with only the flowers above the water line.

Acacallis cyanea that grows about 25 cm tall can produces 3-5 flowers with flower size about 6 cm. This plant enjoy in intermediate temperatures and usually blooms in the late spring and in the late winter until summer.
