I think this is the unique orchid, because it has deferences of flowers between male and female. The male flowers are more attractive, colourful and variegated than female. But, the flowers last only in a few days. This unusual plant produces the large flowers about 8 cm.
Catasetum pileatum can be a little difficult to grow if it is not in the right conditions. A good air movement, bright light and an open potting mix are the important attentions for this plant.
Catasetum pileatum enjoy in warm and intermediate temperatures. Besides Venezuela, this beautiful orchid is also grows natively in Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, and Trinidad.
