This orchid remind me to the popular English nursery rhymes Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. The Indonesian people always know the Phalaenopsis bellina as anggrek kelip (anggrek kelip means twinkle orchid in English), because their flowers look like the Twinkle Little Star.

Phalaenopsis bellina, formerly known as Phalaenopsis violacea var. Borneo. Borneo is Kalimantan, is a big island in Indonesia that produce a wide variety of exotic orchids. The name of bellina is taken from Latin bellus that means very beautiful.

Their flowers are extremely fragrant, particularly at the mornings. At the right place, they can produce flowers year after year and will not stop blossoming. The flowers blossom as long as 2 weeks average. The leaves are large, waxy and shiny.

These plants have been cultivated since 1861. Naturally grow in Kalimantan, Sumatera and Sarawak (Malaysia). The prices of this orchid Rp.30.000 - Rp.50.000 in Indonesia Rupiah. About $3 - $5 in US$.
